About Me
Santiago was born to two loving parents from Michoacán, México, and he was raised in the state of Arizona. He attended public schools and graduated from Arizona State University. Finishing his degree in 2010, he spent the next two years contemplating what to do with his life. He was at a crossroads. He reached out to one of his friends who was studying acting at Playhouse West in Los Angeles and went down to check it out for himself. He was very impressed by the "Meisner Technique" and felt that this was where he needed to study. After planning the move and getting his ducks all in a row, he was set to move to LA by August 2011.
Sometime during that summer, he returned to Playhouse West to watch a play about which his friend said, "You can't miss it." In those 2 hours, his life was literally changed. This play was called Meisner and it was written by Jim Jarrett, the last teaching protégé of legendary teacher Sanford Meisner. When Santiago found out that Jarrett had his own acting studio in San Francisco, he immediately knew he had to study with him. On September 3, 2012, he set out on his new chapter and moved to San Francisco to learn the craft of acting at the Meisner Technique Studio. It was there that he studied under the watchful eye of Jim Jarrett and Melissa Thompson Esaia. "I honestly didn't know anything about acting before I came to the studio. I had taken some classes in Arizona but never got what I knew I truly needed - a foundation. We all make great sacrifices in life to get us where we need to go, although I left my home, my family and friends, would not change a damn thing. As Sanford Meisner would say, courage is willing to risk everything, making the move was the best decision of my life. Thank you Jim, Melissa, and Sandy!" ~Santiago Rosas |
